Advent
Living In-Between
Worship with us in the four weeks of Advent!
What is Advent? Judging by the many Advent Calendars available these days, it seems Advent is a 24-day ramp-up to Christmas. In some ways that’s right — but Advent is so much more than that!
”Advent” means “coming” or “arrival”. As Christians, we believe in two “advents” of Jesus. In His first advent, the Son of God became man, being born of Mary in the town of Bethlehem, ordinary in every way except for sin. He came “to save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). This was His first advent, which we often call Christmas. The Bible also teaches us to look forward to the second advent of Jesus: when He comes again in the Last Day to finish the work of redemption He began.
The season of Advent is a reminder that we live in-between the two comings of Jesus. He’s already saved us from our sin, and will one day save us from all suffering and imperfection. Advent means remembering what is done and awaiting what is yet to come. Practically, living in-between means living with joy and hope because Jesus has defeated sin, yet also longing for the day when He returns in glory and makes all things new.
Join us for worship this Advent season beginning Sunday, November 27, at 10:30am.

“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.
...And they shall call His name Immanuel (which means, God with us).”
Join us for our Christmas Service on
